International Jazz Day brings together communities, schools, artists, historians, academics, and jazz enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate and learn about jazz and its roots, future and impact; raise awareness of the need for intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding; and reinforce international cooperation and communication.
Each year on April 30, this international art form is recognized for promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, diversity, and respect for human rights and human dignity; eradicating discrimination; promoting freedom of expression; fostering key relationships within our society and reinforcing the role of youth in enacting social change.
The Inaugural Davie Jazz Festival Arts and Humanities Jazz Society team has identified such key leaders and trendsetters within the Town of Davie community. These individuals will be honored and receive recognition during the jazz, arts and humanities festival. The highest merit award is the Heritage Award. Mr. Robert “Bob” Roscioli is the 2019 Heritage Award Recipient.
As this is the first year of the festival, we have selected six award recipients to align locally what is being celebrated globally in honor of International Jazz Day core values.
